Palazzo Belfiore - located in a historic palazzo on a charming quiet street in Florence's Oltrarno district, a convenient location 1 block from the Ponte Vecchio in an area that sees much less tourist traffic. There is a supermarket one block toward Palazzo Pitti, and terrific dining choices in the near vicinity (including our new favorite Gelateria Santa Trinita). If you plan to have a car during your stay, entering the city from this side through the Porta Romana is much more convenient, however, you'll have to park in a paid garage nearby and navigating the alleyways to unload your luggage in front of the palazzo is a challenge (but can be done!). There is no lift, so families may want to request apartments on the lower floors (there are six floors).
